RFID Technology

Ski Ticket and Pass User Guide | 2026-2027 Season

Mont Habitant is proud to announce the introduction of RFID technology for the 2026-2027 season. Skiers and snowboarders will access the lifts by passing through a gate that reads their card using Radio Frequency Identification technology. The gate will open automatically as they pass through.

Questions About RFID Technology

1. What is RFID technology?

RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification. This technology allows the gates installed at the base of the lifts to read the information contained on a ski pass or ticket using a signal emitted by the gate. There is no need to take the card out of your clothing, regardless of the temperature. As you approach the access gate, the signal detects your card and automatically opens the barrier.

2. Does this technology mean that the card contains personal data?

RFID cards contain only a number associated with each user's unique profile. No personal or additional information is stored on the card.

3. How can I ensure that my RFID card is read properly?

Place the card on the left side of your outer garment. Make sure it is kept away from anything that could interfere with the signal, such as a cell phone, a pack of gum, or another object. Credit and debit cards do not cause problems because they are not compatible with the lift access gates. Magnets also pose no risk because the information is not stored magnetically. However, the card must not be punched anywhere other than the designated location, as this could damage its antenna.

Do not carry more than one ski ticket or RFID card when passing through the access gate.

4. Does this technology require a new card each season or for every ski ticket purchased?

No. This technology allows you to reuse the same card from one year to the next or from one ski ticket to another. You simply need to reload it at monthabitant.com.

5. How are passes validated at the gate?

An attendant is responsible for validation. When you pass through the gate, your photo, name, and type of pass will appear on their screen. A camera system is also installed for this purpose.
